Aina Amputu

AinaWe are thrilled to have the amazing Aina Amputu wearing our clothes here on our website. Please see the full Spring/Summer 2013 range that she embodies here. In keeping with the theme of this debut collection – beyond face value – we’d like you to meet Aina Amputu, beyond the beautiful face.

The Bodhisattva woman is strong, confident, with purpose, using her resources and influence to transform the world into one in which we’d all like to live. Aina embodies this perfectly.

Born in Namibia Aina came to South Africa at the age of 12, where she attended Rustenberg Girls’ High School. Aina flourished at school, fulfilling many leadership positions: head–girl of the boarding house; school prefect; captain of the netball first team, and the chairperson of the School’s Representative Council of Learners, a position which enabled her to contribute to her school’s management by being a member of the Governing Body. Aina matriculated in 2004 and attended the University of Cape Town where she completed her Bachelor of Social Sciences and then her Bachelor of Laws. Recently admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa, Aina is currently practicing law as a commercial litigator at Adriaans Attorneys. Outside of her career Aina retains her love for an active lifestyle, enjoying both road running and hiking.

Aina lives by the notion that in life, everything imaginable is achievable, one is merely required to act. She imagines a community where people are constantly seeking to do better; seeking to better themselves and those around them; to live knowing that all that was possible was done. It is this idealistic nature that made her reach out to like-minded individuals and co-found the Young Professional’s Effect or YPE. The YPE is a group of socially aware young professionals who have made it their mission to utilize their professional skills to assist non-profit entities in South Africa.
